چکیده

We predict the evolution of galaxy scaling relationships from cosmological, hydrodynamical simulations, that reproduce the scaling relations of present-day galaxies. Although we do not assume co-evolution between galaxies and black holes a priori, we are able to reproduce the black hole mass–velocity dispersion relation. This relation does not evolve, and black holes actually grow along the relation from significantly less massive seeds than have previously been used. AGN feedback does not very much affect the chemical evolution of our galaxies. In our predictions, the stellar mass–metallicity relation does not change its shape, but the metallicity significantly increases from z ∼ 2 to z ∼ 1, while the gas-phase massmetallicity relation does change shape, having a steeper slope at higher redshifts (z . 3). Furthermore, AGN feedback is required to reproduce observations of the most massive galaxies at z . 1, specifically their positions on the star formation main sequence and galaxy mass–size relation.

Scaling relations in dynamical evolution of star clusters

We have carried out a series of small scale collisional N-body calculations of single-mass star clusters to investigate the dependence of the lifetime of star clusters on their initial parameters. Our models move through an external galaxy potential with a logarithmic density profile and they are limited by a cut-off radius. In order to find scaling relations between the lifetime of star cluste...

Merger-induced scatter and bias in the cluster mass–Sunyaev–Zel’dovich effect scaling relation

We examine sources of scatter in scaling relations between galaxy cluster mass and thermal Sunyaev–Zel’dovich (SZ) effect using cluster samples extracted from cosmological hydrodynamical simulations. Overall, the scatter of the mass–SZ scaling relation is well correlated with the scatter in the mass–halo concentration relation with more concentrated haloes having stronger integrated SZ signals ...

The Scaling Relations of Galaxy Clusters and Their Dark Matter Halos

Like early-type galaxies, also nearby galaxy clusters define a Fundamental Plane, a luminosityradius, and a luminosity-velocity dispersion relations, whose physical origin is still unclear. By means of high resolution N–body simulations of massive dark matter halos in a ΛCDM cosmology, we find that scaling relations similar to those observed for galaxy clusters are already defined by their dark...

The evolution of galaxy metallicity scaling relations in cosmological hydrodynamical simulations

The evolution of the metal content of galaxies and its relations to other global properties [such as total stellar mass (M∗), circular velocity, star formation rate (SFR), halo mass, etc.] provides important constraints on models of galaxy formation. Here we examine the evolution of metallicity scaling relations of simulated galaxies in the Galaxies-Intergalactic Medium Interaction Calculation ...

baryonic matter distribution in the large-scale structures is one of the main questions in cosmology. This distribution can provide valuable information regarding  the processes of galaxy formation and evolution. On the other hand, the missing baryon problem is still under debate. One of the most important cosmological structures for studying the rate and  the distribution of the baryons is gal...
